" Local " is a context for environment, and has been the way we have lived through most of history. Most other species are entirely local in the way they provide and collect food, and any other needed resource. With a trend leading to the Industrial Revolution, humanity developed more ability to reach further away from where we actually live through trade and transportation technologies relying on commodities originating in remote locations on the globe. Globalism is a term and context where the source for essential products are integrated commercially but at a cost that is clearly not in balance with nature. The return to local reliance and sufficiency is a growing movement in response to the call for sustainability.
